What we mean by home cooking

For us, home cooking means familiar Greek dishes prepared by hand without turning dinner into a formal tasting menu. The table is designed for sharing, conversation and an unhurried evening in Chora.

The menu changes with the season and the day's catch, so availability can vary.

  • Moussaka
  • Sesame feta
  • Shrimp saganaki
  • Greek salad
  • Fresh sea bream
  • Baklava with ice cream

A family table since 1999

Chef Nikos opened Avra on Kalogera Street in 1999. After the original restaurant closed in 2021, he continued the family restaurant with his son Stathis at the smaller Mikri Avra in Lakka.

The name and location changed, but the chef, family and approach to Greek cooking continued.

What to know before dinner

Mikri Avra opens every evening from 19:00 to 01:00 during the May–October season. The restaurant is walk-in only.

Typical spend is €20–€50 per person, depending on the dishes ordered and excluding drinks. Item prices are confirmed by the current menu at the restaurant.
